GamePoint Team performs better than expected at the SDU Business Run 10K race!

Last Sunday, on the 13th of May an enthusiastic group of GamePoint employees started a 10 km race in The Hague. The weather conditions were sunny and some would even refer to the weather as being ‘hot’. Luckily all of us showed up well trained, rested and somewhat prepared. Apart from one of the technicians showing up in his favorite pair of jeans, stating: ‘This is what I trained in as well…’

The race took everybody through the much demanding urban terrains of The Hague, as well as the forests of ‘Haagsche Bos’. Along the route we had to beware of parked cars, domestic pets crossing the road and even the occasional birds flying at a low altitude. Luckily there was an abundance of people cheering us on. And I think the writer of this article must have given high fives to at least a couple dozen children that acknowledged him as a true GamePoint all star athlete.

The end result was satisfying to everybody that competed in the team, as all of us finished under the 1h10 mark. The fastest time being an amazingly fast 44m32! Though it wasn’t enough to claim a spot on the podium, everybody was very satisfied with their performance. Even Carlos, the company dog looked proud as he rested in the sun thinking: ‘It’d rather be you than me running that race today!’

GamePoint Releases Spring Newspaper

With increasing temperatures inspiring us, we decided that it would be nice to do something different to announce our Easter event to our community. With the sun added to our view at the beach, our inspiration led to the idea of trying something different to inform our community about an upcoming event. Not much later… The idea of the GamePoint Spring Newspaper was born!

Spring in the Netherlands can be a tricky season, the sun might decide to brace us with its rays, but it might rain, or even snow as well. As the first week of the official “springtime” brought some warmer temperatures, we decided we had to put our new energy to good use. With our Easter event coming up, we decided to announce the event by sending out a free newspaper to the areas where our community is best represented.

In total, we will be distributing 300,000 newspapers to our community members and their neighbours. The newspaper will cover several articles, including one about our Easter event and the prizes that we will be giving away. To get an inside scoop on the life as a GamePoint employee, we also added two columns from our colleagues about a day at the office. Additionally, the newspaper contains testimonials from our GamePoint community about the experiences they gained from playing on the GamePoint platform. This includes a special story about a Dutch and a Canadian GamePoint player who met on GamePoint and are getting married this year.

And so, a lot of interesting and entertaining news about GamePoint will be spread around the Netherlands this week. We hope to make a lot of these people happy by distributing prizes to them when they come online during our Easter event from April 2nd  until April 8th.

GamePoint moves server park to new partner: The Datacenter Group

Due to GamePoint’s extensive growth, our previous datacenter could no longer handle our server park. This meant we had to go on a quest to find a new partner that could cater to our needs, both for our increasing server size and our commercial requirements. After some extensive research, we found our partner in The Datacenter Group.

GamePoint has been growing extensively. Due to this growth, our previous datacenter could no longer provide the necessary support and accommodation for our server park. This led to the conclusion that we had to find a new partner to relocate our server park to. Consequently, GamePoint started looking for a reliable partner that could tackle our server issues due to our growth, while providing support to our other needs as well.

After some comprehensive research of several datacenter suppliers, we decided that The Datacenter Group (TDCG) would be our partner of preference for several reasons. Among others, these reasons include safeguarding our continuing growth, a reliable environment in which quick turn-around times can be dealt with efficiently and the capability to deliver satisfying maintenance and upgrade facilities while at the same time meeting our commercial requirements.

As a gaming platform, our servers are of utmost importance to maintain the reliability of our website. Not only is our website a crucial tool to create a satisfying user experience for our users, but it is also an essential component of our business to retain our identity as a reliable platform. And, a reliable platform needs a reliable datacenter. The Datacenter Group share this view, as said by Clyde Tdlohreg, Sales Director The Datacenter Group: “Through focus, Gamepoint excels in online gaming. The Datacenter Group translates this focus in excellence in trustworthiness, security and availability”. This compatibility, between GamePoint and TDCG, provides us with the possibility to advance our skillful performances at GamePoint.

We look forward to a pleasant partnership and to continue to serve our GamePoint users to our best extend.

GamePoint Introduces Timeline to Its Facebook Community

After introducing Timeline for its user profiles in September 2011, Facebook has now announced that companies can adopt Timeline to their brand pages as well. Although many businesses are still unsure of how to employ this new feature, GamePoint recognized Timeline’s potential and has now implemented it to its game pages.

As one of the very few invitees to Facebook’s Marketers Conference in New York on 29 February 2012, GamePoint was present for the official introduction of Timeline for Facebook pages. Here, we received first-hand industry knowledge on how to best incorporate Timeline for our game pages on Facebook. Upon return, we immediately put our newfound knowledge to use and updated our game pages to the new Timeline layout.

Timeline has some useful advantages: it allows us to create a more personalized profile, highlight important events and connect more with our fans and friends by highlighting content that deserves more attention. The latter can be done by determining the size of photos and images we post on our Timeline.

We are very excited about our new and improved brand pages and we hope you are too. We have put up some screenshots of our Bingo, Card Party and Royal Dice pages to present you with our new Timelines, but to get the full experience, please visit some of the pages yourself:
